PRIVACY POLICY FOR "GO! SUPER AWESOME MONKEY"Effective Date: August 9, 2026---1. Who I Am / We Are and How to Reach Me / UsI am the solo developer behind Go! Super Awesome Monkey. In case the team grows in the future, the rest of this document will use “We” to refer to the team behind “Go! Super Awesome Monkey” (“Game”, “game”). This policy explains how we handle your information when you play our game.If you ever have questions, want to know what data we have about you, or need to request a deletion, just email us with your Steam ID:[email protected]We'll get back to you within 30 days.---2. What Data Is Collected, May Be Collected, and WhyThis only applies when you turn Online Mode on in the game settings.What we collect and may collect in the future: Your character's position in the game (X, Y, Z coordinates), where you die, how long levels take you to complete, level scores, the dates you play, and which accessories and spritelings you have equipped.Why: We use this to see which levels need to be improved based on player experience (e.g., players constantly losing in a certain level or area in a certain level). We process this data under Legitimate Interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).2.2 Online Features and LeaderboardsThis only applies when you turn Online Mode on in the game settings.What we collect: Your Steam ID, Steam username, Steam authentication ticket, level IDs and names, your best time (in milliseconds), your previous best time, where you rank on the leaderboard, completion dates, your profile picture index, and which accessory you’re wearing in-game, and the spriteling you have equipped.Why: So we can authenticate you, display global and friends leaderboards, prevent fake score submissions, and share high score achievements through automated Discord announcements.Where it's stored: We store leaderboard entries and profile records in a cloud database run by Supabase, Inc. Limited public data (your username, score, and rank) also gets pushed to our community Discord server.Our legal basis: We process this data under Performance of a Contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) because you are opting into online gameplay features.2.3 Game Updates and Content DeliveryWhat we collect: Your game version, platform information, and basic connection logs.Why: So we can send you the right updates, deliver the Daily Climb level each day, and in-game main hub announcements.Our legal basis: Performance of a Contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).2.4 Anti-Cheat ChecksWhat we collect: Checksums of your local save file, flags that indicate tampering, and execution validation tokens.Why: To keep leaderboards fair. We periodically check that nobody has edited their save file.Our legal basis: Legitimate Interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) to ensure fair competition for everyone playing online.---3. How Long We Keep Your Data- Supabase logs are held for 24 hours. After that, they are no longer accessible to the individual or team behind this game.- Steam authentication tickets exist only in memory while you're submitting a score. They're discarded immediately after and never stored.- Leaderboard and profile data stays on the Steam Leaderboards indefinitely as long as the game exists on Steam. You may request [email protected] to delete all leaderboard data with your associated Steam User ID and this task will be accomplished within 30 days. This will go through a Steam ID Validation check to ensure no fraud is taking place.Exceptions to the logs above are when users have been identified as banned from participating in online leaderboards at the discretion of the team behind this game. When a player is banned, their Steam User ID and/or Steam ID are stored in a secure cloud table covered under legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for anti-cheat/ban enforcement.---4. Who We Share Your Data WithData is not shared with 3rd party companies outside of the four parties below:4.1 Valve Corporation (Steam)
We use Steamworks APIs for authentication, cloud saves, and platform features. All of that is governed by Valve's own Steam Subscriber Agreement.4.2 Supabase, Inc.
This is our cloud database provider. They store and submit leaderboard scores and verify authentication of the player/user/your game instance with Steam.4.3 Cloudflare
Receives username, timestamp, time and/or score on the given level, and leaderboard rank from Supabase and sends this information to Discord.4.4 Discord, Inc.
When Online Mode is active, we push limited public score data (username, time and/or score on the given level, and leaderboard rank) to our community Discord server. Discord server is Go! Super Awesome Monkey!---5. International Data TransfersBecause we use Supabase, Inc. as our database host, your data will pass through infrastructure located in the United States. If you're in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, or Switzerland, we've put Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) in place to legally protect those transfers.If you're not comfortable with the above, you can simply turn off Online Mode in the game settings.---6. Security Measures- All communication between the game client, our backend, and Steam is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Access to our databases is locked down with API keys, role-based permissions, and row-level security. Only the game server can read or write data.---7. Your RightsFor any sections below:
You may request [email protected] to delete all leaderboard data with your associated Steam User ID and this task will be accomplished within 30 days. - You can ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- You can request that we delete your leaderboard records.
- You can ask for your data in a portable format.
- You have the right to complain to your local Data Protection Authority if you're unhappy with our response.7.2 If you're in California (CCPA/CPRA):- You can request details about what personal information we've collected if you provide your Steam ID.
- You can request deletion of that information.
- No retaliation for requesting information.
- We do not sell or share your data for cross-context behavioral advertising.---8. Managing Your Privacy In-Game- You can toggle Online Mode on or off anytime from the pause menu.
- By opting to turn Online Mode “off”, you are agreeing that you are fully expecting to not participate in any online modes and therefore agree that you are receiving the experience of this game equivalent to the price you paid for this game. No partial monetary refunds are offered for selecting to turn Online Mode to “off”. If you wish to refund this game, this is managed through Steam’s refund process.
- When Online Mode is “off”, data will not interact with Supabase. Your Steam Cloud saves will still function. You'll still be able to play the full game offline, but global leaderboards, the Daily Climb, and hub announcements won't be available.---9. Children's PrivacyGo! Super Awesome Monkey is for general audiences. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). If you're a parent and believe your child provided us with data without your consent, contact us at [email protected] and we'll remove it.---10. Updates to This PolicyWe may update this policy when we add new features, change how we handle data, or respond to legal requirements.
